Rank appears to be by number of games rather than score....

Your Overall Metaverse score is computed based on the following basic formula : (Total games score) / Sqrt(Total number of games). There is an ageing effect where old games would decay.
Flags are empires or guilds. Players cotribute their individual scores to their respective empire score.
Ranks are determined by a combination of number of games played and points (as least up to Commodore). Do a search for "Player Ranks" in the main forum to see my guesses for hard numbers.
